Charles F. James, Sr. is a 1962 graduate of William Grant High School. The WFJ Charitable Foundation, Inc., honored Mr. James through a very generous endowment donation to the Lincoln/William Grant Scholarship Foundation, Inc. in his name on December 5, 2020. The endowment gift will fund two (2) $1000 scholarships annually for many years. The Charles F. James, Sr. Scholarship will be awarded to high school seniors or undergraduate college students with high academic potential and great financial need. Students must attend a two-year or four-year regionally accredited college or university.

Charles is the son of Charles Andrew James (WGHS Class of 1942 ½) and Helen M. James. He grew up on Covington's Eastside while attending Lincoln-Grant School. After graduation, he attended Johnson C. Smith College in Charlotte, North Carolina on an athletic scholarship. Mr. James was employed by U. S. Airways {Piedmont) for more than 34 years. He retired in January 2000.

Mr. James and his wife of many years, Mrs. Alice James reside in Colerain Township, Ohio. Mr. James is the father of six sons and one daughter (deceased in 2009). He is a proud, devoted grandfather and great-grandfather, as well as a dedicated William Grant Alumnus. He is also an altruistic, reliable, and compassionate donor of his time and energy to helping others, including family, friends, and neighbors alike. Charles James is one of the co-founders and a lifetime member of The Lincoln/William Grant Scholarship Foundation, Inc. which was established on April 19, 2017.
