Application Checklist
Prepare these items before starting your application.
ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPT
Provide an official copy of your most recent academic transcript.
INCOME VERIFICATION
Applicants must provide the requested family income documentation.
3 LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION
Submit three signed letters of recommendation. At least one should be from an educator or appropriate college official.
PERSONAL ESSAY
Submit an essay of 500 words or less addressing the topic provided in the application.
COLLEGE DOCUMENTATION
Provide documentation of college acceptance or current enrollment, as applicable.
COMPLETED APPLICATION
Complete all required portions of the scholarship application and submit the requested supporting documentation.*
* Incomplete applications may not be considered.
High School Applicants
Applicants who are graduating high school seniors must:

Be progressing satisfactorily toward high school graduation.

Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5.

Provide an official academic transcript.

Provide documentation of acceptance to an eligible college, university, or other qualifying post-secondary institution.

Meet the requirements of the scholarship for which they are applying.
Undergraduate Applicants
Current undergraduate students must:

Be enrolled in an eligible two-year or four-year college or university.

Provide documentation verifying current enrollment.

Provide their most recent academic transcript.

Meet the requirements of the scholarship for which they are applying.
Applicants must submit three signed letters of recommendation from individuals who can speak meaningfully about the applicant's character, academic ability, accomplishments, leadership, work ethic, or potential for future success.
At least one recommendation should come from an educator or appropriate college official familiar with the applicant's academic performance.

Your essay is an opportunity for the Scholarship Committee to learn more about you—not simply your grades or accomplishments.
Maximum Length: 500 Words
Applicants should respond to the essay question provided with the scholarship application.
We are interested in learning about your experiences, aspirations, challenges, accomplishments, and the people or experiences that have helped shape who you are.

Which Scholarship May Be Right for You?

- Applicants are responsible for ensuring that all required information and supporting documentation are submitted by the application deadline.
- Submitting an application does not guarantee a scholarship award.
- Applications are reviewed according to the eligibility requirements and selection criteria established by the Lincoln/William Grant Scholarship Foundation.
- Scholarship recipients may be required to provide additional documentation before scholarship funds are released.
- Scholarship awards must be used in accordance with Foundation requirements and the terms of the applicable scholarship.
